Download: Selling Ebooks and Files

Selling ebooks or other files has never been easier. Everything is completely automated!
The download layout page allows your customer to view files they have bought. This can include ebooks, music files, documents and software.

Uploading Files to Sell
First you would add a catalog layout page to display your products. This is the only layout which is integrated with our shopping cart. To do this:
- Click on "Add Page" from your toolbar.
- Choose layout "Catalog."

- Enter a page name for your new page.
- Click on the "Add Page" button.
- Choose from one of the three layouts and click on it.
Then you would add your product to your catalog page:
- Click on the "Edit Page" button from your toolbar.
- Click on the "Add Item" tab.

- Enter your info and click on "Save."
When adding your product information, make sure you upload your file you are selling as follows:
If adding a downloadable product, you may upload the file here.(i.e. e-books, software etc)
- To upload a file that you would like your customer to receive after you have been paid, upload your file by clicking on "Click to Select a File."

- A window will open up. Click on the "Browse..." button.

- Your file manager will appear. Find your file and double click on it.

- Your file manager closes. Click on the "Save" button and the window closes.

- You then see your filename in the text box above "Click to Select a File"

How Files are Retrieved by the Customer
During the checkout process, the customer is asked to enter in a login and password. This serves a double purpose:
- To allow them to use their login/password the next time they purchase so they do not have to enter in all their billing and shipping information again.
- To allow them to get access to all files they have bought from the site.
Please see Buying Process for Your Customers When a file is paid for, the procedure differs slightly from this. Here is information on how it works for each payment processing option:
Authorize.net, PSIGate.com and SecurePay.com.au
After entering the credit card information, the customer sees:

The circled area shows the link to download the file bought. The customer clicks on the link and immediately they can open the file.
If you have added a download page, the customer can also go to your download page and enter in his/her login and password.

The customer then sees a list of files paid for:

PayPal
After entering their PayPal account information, the customer sees:

In the circled area, the customer sees:
"You will be emailed once your order has been approved. You will be able to access our downloadable through the downloadable area."
This means that after you confirm you have received payment (explained below), the customer is sent an email with a link to a download page. To confirm you have received payment, you have to do the following:
On PayPal, click on "Tools" and then the "Orders" button. Click on your order number. Mark off "PayPal full confirmation" and save.
The customer is then sent the following email:
John,
Your order from website www.ebooksgalore.com has been approved.
To download please follow the link below.
Your username is: johndoe
Your password is: john
Title: eBay Extreme Package Version 3
http://www ebooksgalore.com/downloads/download/1416.htm
The customer then clicks on the link and they are taken to a download page.
Important: The download page is created automatically. It is not listed on your site but has your same template design. You DO NOT need to have already added a download page previously.
The customer enters in his/her login and password.

Manual Processing
After entering their credit card information, the customer sees:

In the circled area, the customer sees:

Download Page
Adding
- Click on "Add Page" from your toolbar.
- Choose layout "Download."

- Enter a page name for your new page.
- Click on the "Add Page" button.
Deleting
To delete your download page:
- Click on "Manage Pages" from your toolbar.
- Click on "Delete" beside the page.

- Click the "Yes, Delete" button to confirm you wish to delete the page.

Editing
- Go to your Download page.
- Click the "Edit Page" button from your toolbar.
- Add your text to your header and footer then click the "Save" button.

The result is:
